Weekly Status Update
For ongoing work. One short update each week.
Weekly status is how the team stays honest in public.
The format is plain on purpose. A short update written every week is worth more than a long update written once a quarter. Keep it simple.
When to use it
- Any ongoing work where someone outside the team needs visibility.
- Once a week, on a fixed day, at a fixed time.
- Even when the status is green. Especially when it is.
How to use it
- Fill in the form below before your reporting deadline.
- Send to the people who need the update. Copy the Markdown into Slack, Teams, or whatever channel your team uses.
- Be honest about status. A “yellow” today buys help. A surprise “red” next week costs trust.
What good looks like
A good weekly status is short, direct, and uses the four status words (green, yellow, red, blocked) so risk is visible at a glance.

About this form
The form runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. “Copy as Markdown” puts the filled template on your clipboard so you can paste it into Slack, Teams, email, or a doc. “Download .md” saves a plain-text Markdown file to your computer. “Email a copy” opens your default mail program with the filled template pre-pasted into the message body.
